How much of Steam we see
A market figure is only as good as the list of games under it. Every night we sweep the whole Steam store, then check the sweep against a separate list of live store pages built from a different source. This page shows that check, the sources, the schedule and what we leave out.
Coverage check
measured 30 Sep 202699.997%
of 191,520 live Steam game pages were in our latest store sweep.
- Live game pages, independent list
- 191,520
- Found by our sweep
- 191,514
- Missed
- 6
The independent list is every game the app change feed says has a live store page, plus pages confirmed one by one, plus games visible only outside the US. It does not come from the store search, so it can see games the search leaves out.

Removed games matter: a genre where many launches were later pulled from sale would look healthier than it was if they were dropped. They stay in launch results.
Sources
last sync, UTC| Source | What it gives us | Records | Last sync |
|---|---|---|---|
| Store catalogue query | Every game Steam lists in store search, with tags, price, release date and review count. Paged through in full every night. | 189,282 | |
| App change feed | Every app Steam knows about, including pages hidden from search. The independent list the sweep is checked against. | 207,863 games of 555,619 apps | |
| Regional sweeps | The same catalogue query from other countries, for games not visible from the US. | +200 games | |
| Popular Upcoming order | Steam's own wishlist ranking of coming-soon games, saved once a day. | 5,698 of 5,704 ranked | |
| Follower counts | Store-page followers of coming-soon games, about 4,000 a night, most wishlisted first. | not counted | not recorded |
| Historical app lists | Archived Steam app lists, so games that were later removed still count in launch results. | 362,437 apps | archive |
All collection is logged out, from one address, at a polite pace, and backs off when Steam asks it to.
Every night
from 03:30 Pacific- App change feed. New, changed and removed apps since the night before. A watcher also follows the feed live through the day.
- Store sweep. Every page of the store catalogue query, then a catch-up pass for anything it skipped.
- Gap fill. Store pages the change feed says are live but search left out, fetched one by one.
- Regional sweep. Other countries once a week; games seen only outside the US are re-checked nightly.
- Wishlist rank. Steam's Popular Upcoming order, saved as that day's snapshot.
- Players and followers. Concurrent players for about 3,000 games and followers for about 4,000 upcoming games.
- Review histories. Monthly review counts that reveal when Early Access games really launched.
- Analysis. Prices, boards and the release calendar, which is re-checked against the live store.
- Coverage check. The sweep is compared with the independent list. That result is the figure at the top of this page.
- Publish. Only the derived figures are copied to this site.
Followers, wishlist rank and player counts are daily readings that cannot be collected after the fact. A missed night is a permanent gap, so the nightly run comes before any new feature.
Left out
- Mods
- 150 mods sold as store items are tracked separately and never counted as games.
- Software and extras
- Software, soundtracks, DLC and demos are not games and are not counted.
- Removed games
- Counted as launches (they happened) but never as part of today's market.
- Adult-only games
- Kept out of every board and price.
- No US price
- Games sold only outside the US count toward coverage but have no US price, so they stay out of revenue figures.
- Player data
- No reviewer names, IDs, profiles or review text are collected or stored. Only counts.
- The catalogue itself
- This site publishes derived figures per genre and niche, not a copy of Steam's catalogue.
